Top Ten: One Step Closer

With the Oscar season drawing ever closer and the likely nominations for Best Picture starting to firm up, this week’s Top Ten focuses on one of 2014’s first set of awards nominees.

Offering one of the more reliable indicators of how the Academy is expected to vote, the Producers Guild of America has released its ten nominations for best producer (or more correctly, the Darryl F Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Motion Pictures).

Notable absences include Philomena, Rush, The Butler and August: Osage County, all of which have previously received Oscar buzz. However, whether this means that they will miss out this year remains to be seen.

The full nominations (in alphabetical order) are as follows:

1. American Hustle
2. Blue Jasmine
3. Captain Phillips
4. Dallas Buyers Club
5. Gravity
6. Her
7. Nebraska
8. Saving Mr Banks
9. 12 Years A Slave
10. The Wolf of Wall Street
